Meetings have been held around the world to commemorate October 2, World Peace Day, when President Daisaku Ikeda embarked on his first trip abroad to support the faith and Buddhist practice of members there and the international development  of Nichiren Buddhism 61 years ago. On October 3, SGI-Ecuador held a meeting online, connecting venues across the country. On the same day, SGI-Canada held online regional general meetings, and SGI-Chile held an online meeting during which the music group and fife and drum corps gave commemorative performances. October also marks the 60th anniversary of President Ikeda’s first visit to Europe. On October 3, members in Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden watched a streamed commemorative video, and on October 10, some 300 members in the Netherlands joined an online general meeting.
