On October 3, new SGI-USA centers opened in El Monte, California, and Seattle, Washington. The opening ceremony of the SGI-USA El Monte Buddhist Center was attended by Supervisor for the First District of Los Angeles County Hilda L. Solis, who commended President Daisaku Ikeda for his contributions to peace.
