On August 1, the 184th lecture in the Hiroshima Study Lecture Series for Peace was held at the Hiroshima Ikeda Peace Memorial Hall. Takashi Koizumi, chairperson of the Hiroshima Peace Culture Foundation, delivered a lecture on the history of nuclear disarmament. On the same day, a peace forum was held at the Soka Gakkai Nagasaki Peace Center. Dr. Masao Tomonaga, honorary director of the Japanese Red Cross Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Hospital, shared his experience of the atomic bombing and the significance of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW). In July, the Soka Gakkai Student Division in the Chugoku region of Japan, which includes Hiroshima, conducted their 26th Student Peace Awareness Survey. It showed that 74% of the 287 respondents believe that nuclear abolition or disarmament is possible.
