On February 17, the Soka Institute of the Amazon joined the new Amazonas Hub of the UN Global Compact. The UN Global Compact, the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative, engages the business sector in adopting sustainable and socially responsible policies, and the hub will bring together leaders from various sectors within the State of Amazonas to accelerate the reach of the Sustainable Development Goals. It is the newest such hub in Brazil. An online event was held to mark its official launch at which Executive Director of UN Global Compact Brazil Carlo Linkevieius Pereira spoke about his hopes for the Amazonas Hub, and President of the Soka Institute Edison Akira Sato introduced the institute’s initiatives. An online version of the “Seeds of Hope & Action: Making the SDGs a Reality” exhibition, jointly developed by the Earth Charter International and the SGI (Soka Gakkai International), was also shown.
