Soka Gakkai in Japan Donates Books to Schools

On November 16, the Soka Gakkai in Japan donated some 290 books to schools on Kitadaito island, 360 kilometers east of the main island of Okinawa and, on November 17, 300 books to schools in Kure City, Hiroshima. Over the next five years, the schools in Hiroshima will receive additional books each year. The Soka Gakkai in Japan runs a program to donate books for children to schools and libraries in remote regions and those affected by natural disasters. Since 1974, it has donated a total of 530,000 books to 1,280 schools and libraries throughout the country.
