From March 11 to 22, the 68th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68) was held at the UN Headquarters in New York. On March 13, the SGI (Soka Gakkai International) cohosted a parallel event titled “Overcoming Poverty: Young Women’s Leadership through Education.” Permanent Representative of the Republic of Slovenia to the United Nations Ambassador Boštjan Malovrh spoke at the event, as did Ute Scholz, president of Zonta International, and Elisa Gazzotti of the SGI Office for UN Affairs.

On March 14, the SGI cohosted another parallel event titled “Financing Peace for Gender Equality: Advancing the Financing of the 1325 Agenda.” Four panelists discussed topics such as the relationship between national security and violence against women, and the need to support girls’ education.
