ICAN Representatives Visit Soka Gakkai Headquarters

On January 23, the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN)’s executive director, Melissa Parke, and its International Steering Group member, Akira Kawasaki, met with Soka Gakkai President Minoru Harada, Vice President Hirotsugu Terasaki and national Women’s Division Leader Kimiko Nagaishi at the Soka Gakkai Headquarters in Tokyo. Ms. Parke expressed her hope for further cooperation with the SGI (Soka Gakkai International), particularly to accelerate discussions on the risks of nuclear deterrence and ways to support the global hibakusha, those affected by nuclear testing and accidents. Ms. Parke also met with youth representatives.
