Relief Efforts Introduced at Global Protection Forum

On October 28, Nobuyuki Asai, director for Sustainable Development and Humanitarian Affairs of the Soka Gakkai, spoke at a session of the online Global Protection Forum 2021, hosted by Global Protection Cluster (GPC). Mr. Asai focused on the role of faith-based organizations in protecting internally displaced people. He shared the Soka Gakkai’s relief efforts in response to the 2011 earthquake, tsunami and the nuclear power plant accident in Tohoku, Japan. He emphasized the importance of encouragement and human connection in reconstruction following such a disaster.
