SGI Peace Center Launched

On April 4, the Seikyo Shimbun reported that the SGI (Soka Gakkai International) Peace Center has been launched. Led by Chief Executive Director Hirotsugu Terasaki, the center will take forward the vision and peace proposals of SGI President Daisaku Ikeda, developing new initiatives in fields such as disarmament, human rights education, gender, the environment and sustainability, and humanitarian relief in partnership with other organizations and in support of the UN.  

The SGI Peace Center will also collaborate with Soka Gakkai constituent organizations around the world and the SGI Office for UN Affairs, playing a key role in SGI’s activities as an NGO in consultative status with the United Nations. 

Operating under the SGI, the international association of the Soka Gakkai headed by SGI General Director Yoshiki Tanigawa, the SGI Peace Center has its office within the Josei Toda International Center in Tokyo.
