On May 31, the Institute of Oriental Philosophy (IOP), an affiliate of the Soka Gakkai, cohosted a symposium titled “Dialogue between Islam and Buddhism: Faith and the Essence of Human Beings” with the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilisation at the International Islamic University Malaysia (ISTAC-IIUM). The symposium was held at Soka University in Tokyo. From the ISTAC-IIUM, Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Berghout and Assistant Professor Dr. Nurul Ain Norman both presented their research as did Dr. Tatsuya Yamazaki and Dr. Hideki Iwaki from the IOP. On the same day, IOP signed an academic exchange agreement with the ISTAC-IIUM.
