Changemakers: Stories of Young Human Rights Educators

A multimedia resource developed by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), Amnesty International and SGI (Soka Gakkai International).

Changemakers: Stories of Young Human Rights Educators is a multimedia educational tool featuring a documentary film highlighting the stories of seven young human rights educators from around the world and their contributions to advancing human rights in their communities. Their stories and the related resources convey the role of youth in building a more just and inclusive world.

Addressing a range of issues—including the rights of children and youth in vulnerable situations, racial discrimination, the human rights of persons with disabilities, and gender equality and gender-based violence—Changemakers aims to inspire young people to take action to promote and protect human rights.

It was developed in alignment with the fourth phase (2020–2024) of the World Programme for Human Rights Education, which focused on youth, and supports the fifth phase (2025–2029) of the program, which focuses on both youth and children.

The documentary was launched in 2023 at the UN Office at Geneva, Switzerland, to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Available in English, French, Arabic and Spanish, the full documentary and the individual stories of the seven changemakers can be downloaded along with discussion questions tailored to the thematic focus of each video.
